I have worked most of this weekend, but Saturday I took my kids and my nephew to the park for a little picnic. We were only there a couple of hours, but it was a blast.

At home, we made our sandwiches and packed up our chips, snacks and drinks. Once loaded in the car, we headed to Rotary Park.

Pretty fountain

We decided that we wanted to eat on the other side of that fountain so we walked all the way around it. My boys carried the basket of goodies. Well, Caiden gave up halfway around and wanted to be carried. BUT we got to the other side.

My lil guys

It was then time to set up shop. We were all hungry and had lots of good stuff to dig into.

Perfect

Our list of munchies was extensive. ;) Ham and roast beef sandwiches, Cheetos, Baked Parmesan chips, a fruit tray, beef jerky, strawberry cakes, PB&J crackers, and soda for Mom, juices for the kids. Oh yeah…and bubbles. Not to eat of course. Haha!

Our basket

Yum!

There was plenty of sun, birds and even a fisherman! Caiden chased him around wanting to use his fishing pole. That guy didn’t stay too close for long. Poor man. Hee hee.

Here birdie, birdie, birdie!

He didn't know what he was in for when he moved down to us

Ok. After scarfing some food down, it was time to head back to the other side. Time to hit the playground!

Trackin' back

Now to run off some energy and blow off some steam…

OMG! Look at THAT thing Mom!

Stripping off the shoes

I L-O-V-E his smile!

They ran off their energy and we packed up and headed back home. It was a beautiful day, but stepping back into the a/c felt wonderful. I even walked away with a blistering sunburn as a souvenir. All in all, a wonderful afternoon with my favorite people. I am blessed to have such a beautiful, healthy family.

On Twitter and Facebook, I am the feeder of quotes. I love them. I am a fan of using you own words, but sometimes others say it in a way that you never would. This quote was too long to post on either site but I wanted to share it with you. It’s a great quote. We shall put this with some music for my Memorial Day song choice. God bless America, our freedom, all of our military and their families who sacrifice everyday to make that freedom possible. Today is for those ones who have made the ultimate sacrifice. We all are forever in your debt.

These heroes are dead.  They died for liberty – they died for us.  They are at rest.  They sleep in the land they made free, under the flag they rendered stainless, under the solemn pines, the sad hemlocks, the tearful willows, and the embracing vines.  They sleep beneath the shadows of the clouds, careless alike of sunshine or of storm, each in the windowless Place of Rest.  Earth may run red with other wars – they are at peace.  In the midst of battle, in the roar of conflict, they found the serenity of death.  I have one sentiment for soldiers living and dead:  cheers for the living; tears for the dead.  ~Robert G. Ingersoll

Ahhh, well you know it’s the weekend right? Another music fail. BUT, Saturday and Sunday are both here together. The reason for this wonderful weekend is in honoring those who died for our country. Patriotic music is gonna rock this page all day. Toby Keith is a great artist that supports the military vocally and a LOT through his music. He gets the whole post. ;)

A special thank you to my brother Randy and my dad Rick. Thank you for what you have done, are doing, and will be doing. I love you and I am proud to call you my family.

This song is HILARIOUS! When I first heard it on the radio, I was driving and I laughed my butt off. Cute song. Enjoy.
